This unique bowl is actually turned from several laminations cut from a single board that as made from curly maple and black cherry and then re-assembled into its final shape and coloration. The cherry and maple were laminations were separated by walnut and maple veneers which produced the distinctive stripes both sides of the bowl and provide considerable visual interest. Normally, bowls constructed with this technique have straight sides, but I prefer to turn them with a subtle, but distinct, parabolic curve from the base to the rim which produces a much more elegant form. The bottom of the bowl has been decorated with a textured ring and inside of several concentric groves as proof that it was turned with as much care and attention as the rest of the bowl. Finished with several coats of danish oil and polished to a pleasant silky sheen, this bowl is as nice to hold as it is to look at. An heirloom quality item that will be in your family for generations.
