This hour glass shaped box is turned from black walnut box (Juglans nigra) and features inlay in the lid made from a nicely figured piece of curly hard maple (Acer saccharum). The inlay is framed by a bead and ring of texturing on the outside, while texturing on both the bottom and inside box provide a little surprise when the box is opened or handled. The inlay was completed using Chris Stott's window technique which means that it is also visible on the inside of the lid. A simple kerf decorates the seam between the lid and the base without disrupting the lines of the form. Finished with a shellac polish and then buffed to a satin sheen, this box feels as good as it looks. The perfect place to store your most precious jewellery or keepsakes
