This small platter (or large plate) is turned from white ash (Fraxinus americana), one of North America's most durable, and attractive hardwoods. The upper surface of the platter is simple and unadorned -letting the subtle beauty of the wood show through. The rim is in-sloping and provides a subtle shadow line that provides depth to the piece while also providing a natural and comfortable "thumb hold" when you pick the platter up. The outside profile is a simple pleasing curve that has been decorated with a pair of delicate beads. A subtle reverse curve at the base gives the form a little visual lift when it is sitting on a table or counter. The bottom features two concentric grooves that frame textured ring demonstrating that the bottom was turned and finished with as much care and attention as the rest of the platter. Finished with Tung oil and buffed to a pleasing sating sheen, this platter is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
