This elegant trinket box is turned from a heavily spalted piece of maple (Acer spp.) that has been infused with a stablising resin. The resin allows wood to be turned that would otherwise be too soft to make anything from. The stabilizing process adds a lot of work to the process and is only really worthwhile on the prettiest of woods. This piece doesn't disappoint and has considerable figure and visual interest. The form itself if pleasantly simple, with straight sides that flare out at the lid. A pair of delicate beads decorate the seam between the lid and the base, and a small raised medallion adorns the top of the lid. Texturing on the bottom of the base provide a little added surprise when the box is handled. Finished with hard-wax oil and buffed to a semi-gloss sheen, this box feels as good as it looks. The perfect place to keep your most precious earrings, cuff links or other keepsakes.
