This is a simple timpani shaped box in hard maple with a chechen inlay in the lid. The outside of the box and the inlay itself are unadorned with any additional embellishments or texturing, letting the subtle grain of the these two beautiful woods do the talking. A small kerf highlights the division between the top and the bottom of the box, and a slight flare to the lid makes it easy to remove the suction fit lit. Texturing on the bottom of the box and the underside of the lid provide a little surprise when the box is handled and opened.
