This retangular box was made at the request of a long time friend who wanted a box to store charts made by an antique barograph (weather station). This box is made from quarter sawn hard maple with a walnut top and ebony splines. The maple actually came from a tree they had to take down years ago and hold special value to them. The ebony used to create the splines were machined key off of an old piano that was on its way to the landfill. The inside of the box is finished with shellac, while the outside has been finished with polymerized tung oil and buffed to a nice semi-gloss sheen.
