This classic shaped box is turned from a nice piece of hard maple (Acer saccharum) and features a delicate bead where the lid meets the base. This particular piece of maple has considerable figure and chatoyannce. In addition to texturing on the top of the lid, texturing has also been applied to both the bottom of the box and in the inside of the lid to provide a little surprise when the box is handled or opened. Finished with an oil and shellac friction polish and buffed to a semi-gloss sheen, this box feels as good as it looks.
