Apple wood Clam Shell Box

Description:

This clam shaped box is turned from a beautiful piece of apple wood (Malus domestica) that features a broad streak of lighter sapwood. The lid and the base were turned out of the same piece of wood to ensure an almost prefect match. The lid features a two-part ebonized maple knob that has a simple curved profile on the outside and a decorative disk on the inside which features a textured flower that has been highlighted with gold gilding. Texturing on both the inside and bottom of the box provide a little surprise when the box is handled or opened. Finished with durable, protective a blend of oil and shellac and then buffed to a semi-gloss finish, this box feels as good as it looks, and will only get better with time.
