This plate was turned from crotch in a white ash (Fraxinus americana) tree. The piece was sawn and turned to showcase the unique feather figure and curl that often occurs in where large branches split from the main trunk of the tree. This particular plate features a subtle curved from rim to rim without any additional decoration while the outside form is a pleasant curve with a raised foot that lifts the form off of the surface that it is sitting on. The interior of the foot has some texturing and a couple of concentric rings that serve as proof that the bottom was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Finished with several coats of tung oil and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this plate is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
