This plate was turned from from a nicely coloured piece of hard maple (Acer saccharum). The wood itself has all kinds of character, including some spalting and curly figure. This particular plate features a subtle curve on the interier that delineated by a raised bead while the outside form is a pleasant curve with a raised foot that lifts the form off of the surface that it is sitting on. The interior of the foot has some texturing and a couple of concentric rings that serve as proof that the bottom was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Finished with several coats of food safe boiled linseed oil and beeswax, and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this plate is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
