This plate was turned from crotch in a white ash (Fraxinus americana) tree. the piece was sawn and turned to showcase the spectacular feather figure and curl that often occurs in where large branches split from the main trunk of the tree. This particular plate features a subtle curved rim with a small step that delineates the interior. The outside form is a pleasant curve with a ring foot that raises the form off of the surface that it is sitting on. The interior of the ring foot has some texturing and a couple of concentric rings that serve as proof that the bottom was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Finished with several coats of tung oil and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this plate is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
