Wenge Box with cedar burl inlay
Description:
This bell shaped box in Wenge (Millettia laurentii) features an inlay made from yellow cedar (Cupressus nootkatensis) burl. The inlay was completed using Chris Stott's picture frame technique, meaning that it is visible on both the inside and outside surfaces. The inlay, both inside and outside is framed by a simple bead. Texturing on the bottom of the box provide a little surprised when the box is handled, and two delicate little beads decorate the seam between the lid and the box's base. Finished with tung oil and buffed to a high sheen, this box is a pleasure to handle.
