Walnut hourglass with burl inlay
Description:
This hourglass shaped box is turned from black walnut and features a mountain ash burl inlay in the lid. The inlay was done using Chris Stott's picture frame technique so it is also visible on the inside of the lid and features very fine eyes and some subtle bark inclusions. The inlay is framed by a delicate bead on both the inside and outside of the box. Texturing on the inside and bottom of the box provides a little extra surprise when the box is handled and opened. Finished with an oil-varnish mix and buffed to a nice shine, this box feels as good as it looks.
