This calibash style bowl is turned from a beautiful piece of black walnut (Juglans nigra). Several small cracks developed in the bowl during drying and have been re-enforced with traditional butterfly patches made from curly hard maple that provide a beautiful contrast and additional interest. The form itself is a pleasant, round bowl with a thin wall and in-turned rim that fits so well in your hand when you pick it up. The bottom of bowl has been dished out slightly so it sits on a flat surface without wobbling and has decorated with and several concentric rings as proof that it was turned with as much care and attention as the rest of the bowl. Finished with several coats of food safe walnut oil and polished to a pleasant silky sheen, this bowl is as nice to hold as it is to look at. An heirloom quality item that will be in your family for generations and ready to go to work in your kitchen.
