This decorative bowl was turned from maple and has a wide rim that has been decorated with various shades of turquoise, purple and white acrylic paints. The paints were poured in a wet layer near the center of the bowl and then tilted to cover the entire surface and allowed to interact, creating all kinds of intricate patterns and layers The paint was then top-coated with several layers of high gloss polyurethane to provide protection and depth to the final finish. The back of the platter features a simple curve. The bottom of the foot has been decorated with a textured medallion which serve to demonstrate that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of the piece.
