This hour-glass shaped box was turned from a Manitoba Maple (Acer negundo) and subsequently textured and then painted with orange milk paint. The texture was applied to the finished box and run continuously from the lid to the base and provides considerable visual and tactile interest. The bottom of the box, the inside of the lid, and the inside bottom have also been textured to provide a little surprise when the box is handled or opened. The milk paint has been sealed with a hard wax-oil finish which will protect the surface but still provides a wonderfully tactile feel. This box is the perfect place to keep your rings, jewellery, or other valuable keepsakes.
