This hollow form is turned from white and has been completely textured with a round carbide burr. The carbide burr as applied to the wood in a slightly overlapping pattern creating the illusion of carved hexagons rather than circles. After texturing, the whole form was painted with black milk paint, sanded back to expose raw wood between the dimples and then coloured with a walnut aniline dye that appears almost like a copper patina. The final result is a rich, layered finish that has all kinds of interest and character that just begs to be picked up and touched. The very bottom of the form has remained unaltered to server as a reminder that the piece really is wood. This is a perfect piece to add some texture and shape to almost any decor.
