This decorative platter is turned from hard maple and was created to illustrate 16 different textures that can be created with a dremel tools an a small selection of carving bits. After texturing, the platter rim was painted black and then dry-brushed with sliver, gold, and bronze paint to highlight the texture and provide visual depth. The bottom of the platter features a subtle ogee curve and a sump foot that raises the form off the surface that the platter is sitting on. A textured pattern on the bottom provides a little surprise when the platter is handled and illustrates that the bottom was turned with as much care and attention as the rest of the piece.
