This classic shaped box is turned from a piece of American Elm (Ulmus americana) that is heavily spalted and has been infused with stabilizing resin to make it workable. The form of box is an classic elegant shape, and is largely unadorned. A simple bead decorates the seam between the lid and base, and texturing has been applied the bottom of the box to provide a little surprise when the box is handled. The lid fits tightly enough that it can be used to pick up the box without loosing the base, but is still easy to remove. An oil finish has been applied to this box to provide protection and enhance the natural depth of the wood. The finish has been buffed to a pleasant shine, but still gives it a natural wood feeling.
