This small plate was turned from white ash (Fraxinus americana) and features some darker heartwood that is evident in the rim. The outside form is a pleasant ogee shape with two delicate beads located about half way up the form where the ogee transition from a bead to a cove. A subtle ring foot raises the form off of the surface that it is sitting on. The interior of the ring foot has some texturing and a couple of concentric rings that serve as proof that the bottom was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Painted with green and then blue milk paint which was then sanded back to reveal wood in some of the raised details, yields a wonderfully tactile, almost antique looking surface. The whole plate has been finished with several coats of tung oil and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this plate is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
