This serving tray/platter is turned from hard maple and features some white spalting, some figure, and even a few bug galleries. Far from plain, this maple has some character. The platter itself is a simple, but pleasing form without additional embellishments. Finished with a varnish oil blend and buffed to a high gloss, it feels as good as it looks. The bottom of the platter has been finished with a small foot to give the form a little lift and details that make it look like it was a ring applied after the fact.
