This 16" bowl is the outer bowl from a three bowl set cored from a single large block of white ash (Fraxinus americana). This bowl features distinct contrast between the heart wood and sapwood which provides some additional visual interest to the already interesting grain patterns that ash is known for. The form is a slightly enclosed, rounded calabash with a beaded rim. A small ring foot raises the bowl off of the surface that it is sitting on, and texturing inside of the ring foot demonstrates that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much attention to detail as the rest of the piece. Finished with linseed oil and beeswax, this piece feels as good as it looks and will only get better through time.
