This 12" bowl is the middle bowl from a three bowl set cored from a single large block of white ash (Fraxinus americana). This bowl features clean lines and a simple, yet pleasing shape. The outer surface is decorated with sublte raised boss around the outside of the rim. The top surface of the rim is cleanly cut and slopes gently inwards. The distinct contrast between the heart wood and sapwood provide some additional visual interest. A small ring foot raises the bowl off of the surface that it is sitting on, and texturing inside of the ring foot demonstrates that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much attention to detail as the rest of the piece. Finished with linseed oil and beeswax, this piece feels as good as it looks and will only get better through time.
