This traditional, round bottom box in walnut has a couple of unique 'features' that weren't apparent until it was almost complete. Most obvious is the small not from a long lost branch. The swirling grain around the knot is reminiscent of the Eye of Jupiter. Unfortunately, this box a also has split on the bottom that was not evident until turning was almost complete. Texturing on the bottom of the box and on the underside of the lid provide a little surprise when the box is handled.
