This unique bowl is actually turned from several laminations cut from a single board that as made from strips of curly maple and cherry and then re-assembled into its final shape. The laminated layers where alternated to produce the checker-board pattern. Normally, bowls constructed in this manner have straight sides, but I prefer to turn them with a subtle, but distinct parabolic curve from the base to the rim which produces a much more elegant form. The bottom of the bowl has been decorated with several concentric rings as proof that it was turned with as much care and attention as the rest of the bowl. Finished with several coats of danish oil and polished to a pleasant silky sheen, this bowl is as nice to hold as it is to look at. An heirloom quality item that will be in your family for generations.
