The snack bowl was turned from black cherry (Prunus serotina) and features a small bead just below the rim. The bowl was turned to completion while the wood was still wet and then allowed to slowly dry. During the drying process the wood warped and moved, producing a final form that is definitely oval with a subtly undulating rim. A small patch of white sapwood is evident on one edge, giving the bowl even more interest. Finished with food safe linseed oil and beeswax and then buffed to a pleasant satin sheen, this bowls feels as good as it looks and will only get better with time.
