This natural edge bowl was turned from a piece of soft maple (Acer saccharinum) and features some distinct Ambrosia stripes and early stages of spalting that provide additional interest. This bowl is fairly thin, but not so thin as to be delicate or fragile, but it surprisingly light. The bark on this bowl has been removed, leaving just the outer surface of the log as the rim which provides a distinctly organic form and shape, while still being as durable and practical as a more traditional bowl with a flat, cut rim. The bottom is simple, subtle pedestal that will ensure the bowl sits a on a flat surface without rocking while also providing a little visual lift to the form. Finished with food safe Linseed Oil and then buffed to a pleasant sheen, the finish enhances the wood and the subtle details while still providing that unmistakable feel of wood. This bowl is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
