This relatively large, natural edge bowl was turned from a Black Cherry. The blank originated from a crotch in the tree where to large branches split from the trunk and was orientated in a way that left the bark as the rim of the bowl. This orientation produces a final bark edge bowl with a distinct heart shape and curly feather figure in the bottom. Because this bowl is cherry, it has the additional visual interest of a lighter ring of sapwood between the bark and the rich heartwood. This bowl has been finished with several coats of Danish oil and then buffed to a pleasant sheen, and because it is cherry, it will only get better and better with age. This bowls is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
