The 11.25" diameter bowl is turned from a nice piece of black walnut (Juglans nigra) that features orange and caramel highlights and conspicuous patch of lighter sapwood that provides considerable character and visual interest. the form itself if relatively simple and features three beads about 1/3 of the way down the side. The top of the rim is inward sloping and the inside is undercut to provide another shadow line and visual depth the piece. A reverse curve at the base of the bowl gives the form a little visual lift when it is sitting on a table or counter, while texturing and several concentric rings serve as proof that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much are and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Finished with several coats of tung oil and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this bowl is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
