This medium sized salad bowl is turned from a nice piece of soft maple that features several ambrosia stripes, some contrasting hardwood, and a little subtle chatoyance or curl, that combine to produce a bowl with all kinds of character and visual interest. The form itself features a pleasant simple profile with two delicate beads near the rim. The bead create a convenient handle for your fingers when you pick up the bowl, providing a subtle, tactile pleasure. The top surface of the rim slopes invitingly towards the interior of the bowl, while a slight under cut ensures that the contents remain in the bowl when tossing salad. A coved foot lifts the bowl of the surface slightly while concentric rings on the bottom provide proof that it was turned, and not just sanded flat. Finished with a food safe, linseed oil and bees wax finish and then buffed to a satin sheen, this bowl is ready to go to work in your kitchen or hold decorative items on your mantel.
