This 14" salad bowl was turned from hard maple (Acer saccharum) and subsequently textured and coloured with a beautiful yellow milk paint. The outside profile is a simple curve that features a raised cove at the rim that creates a distinct shadow line and provides the perfect place for your thumb when you pick the bowl up. A delicate bead decorates the seam between the cove and the textured surface. The top of the rim is inward sloping and the inside is undercut to provide another shadow line and visual depth the piece. A ring foot at the base gives the form a little visual lift when it is sitting on a table or counter, while texturing and several concentric rings serve as proof that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much care and attention to detail as the rest of piece. Finished with several coats of linseed oil and then buffed to a pleasing satin sheen, this bowl is ready to go to work in your kitchen or dining room.
