Textured Cranberry Manitoba Maple Bowl

Description:

This 10" diameter bowl was turned form a nice piece of Manitoba Maple (sometimes known as Box Elder) (Acer negunda) that had started to show some early signs of spalting. The form of the bowl is simple yet pleasing and features an inward sloping rim. The outer surface of the bowl has be decorated with concentric rings of texture created by pressing a carbide burr into the wood in slightly overlapping pattern creating the illusion of carved hexagons rather than circles. The outer surface was subsequently painted with cranberry milk paint that really makes in the internal of the bowl pop and compliments the natural interior beautifully. The bottom of the bowl features a ring foot to provide a little lift to the whole form, and the interior of the foot has been textured to provide a little surprise when the bowl is handled and serve to prove that the bottom of the bowl was turned with as much attention to detail as the rest of the pieces. Finished with food safe linseed oil, this bowl is ready to go to work in your kitchen or serve as seasonal decoration.
