Textured Blue-Grey Yarn Bowl

Description:

This nice little yarn bowl was turned from a piece of hard maple (Acer saccharum) and was subsequently textured and then painted with coats of grey and blue milk paint. The top coat of milk paint was subsequently sanded back producing a uniquie two-tone colour scheme. The painted exterior always contrasts nicely with the wood interior, making the figure and features of the wood that much more interesting and impactful. The form itself is simple, and unsophisticated, but feels so good in the hand, and in combinated with the tactile nature of milk paint, and the textured surface, this bowl just begs to be handled. The enclosed rim of the bowl ensures that your yarn ball remains contained when you draw the yarn out through the graceful 'J' shaped slot during use. The bottom of the bowl is round and wobbles pleasantly from side to side when placed on a hard surface. Top coated, inside and out with polymerized Tung oil, this bowl feels as good as it looks and will only get better with time.
