This hour-glass shaped box was turned from a Manitoba Maple (Acer negundo) and subsequently painted with green and blue milk paint. The milk painted has been sanded back so the green paint shows through in places giving the finish depth and interest. The bottom of the box, the inside of the lid, and the inside bottom have been textured to provide a little surprise when the box is handled or opened. The milk paint has been sealed with a Tung-oil finish which will protect the surface but still provides a wonderfully tactile feel. This box is the perfect place to keep your rings, jewellery, or other valuable keepsakes.
