This bell shaped box is turned from apple and features a threaded lid. The apple wood itself has a some sapwood and a couple of small knots that provide some visual interest and character. The lid and base thread together rather than the more typical friction fit lid. The threads were cut to ensure a perfect grain alignment when the lid is tightened into place. Texturing on the bottom of provide a little surprise when the box is handled. Finished with a oil-varnish blend, and buffed to a satin sheen this box feels as good as it looks
