This unique bowl is actually turned from several laminations cut from a single board that as made from strips of baltic birch plywood and then re-assembled into its final shape. The laminated layers where alternated to produce the unique pattern that looks almost like it was woven from individual strips of wood. Normally, bowls constructed in this manner have straight sides, but I prefer to turn them with a subtle, but distinct, parabolic curve from the base to the rim which produces a much more elegant form. The bottom of the bowl has been turned with as much care and attention as the rest of the bowl and has been dished out slightly so that it will always sit on a flat surface without rocking. Finished with several coats of danish oil and polished to a pleasant silky sheen, this bowl is as nice to hold as it is to look at. An heirloom quality item that will be in your family for generations.
