Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina)

Description

Not often available commercially, stag horn sumac is plentiful in southern Ontario and is easily harvested from small trees and bushes. although sumac is not particularly strong or heavy, it is one of the only woods that is naturally green. If the pith is removed from harvested wood, it dries with little degrade, is easy to work and finishes well.
